An interesting example of the 1908 Pattern haversack, dated 1914 and featuring some unusual internal modifications.
The internal divider has been bolstered by period lining fabric and is marked 'Kent 164', with evidence of tools being carried in it. This was originally stitched in place, having become partly unstitched over time. The rear tabs have been removed, indicating use a shoulder bag. It is possible that this has been used by a despatch rider for carrying tools. The maker is Thomas Briggs (London) Ltd and is faintly stamped 'T B (L) Ltd' 1914.
Condition is well used with marks, though it is solid with no damage, only some minor re-stitching needed to one small area as pictured. Early dated examples of 1908 webbing are proving harder to obtain. This haversack does not appear to have ever been treated to blanco.
