A pair of mess dress trousers, dated 1938 and named to Captain J. H. Orgill of the Manchester Regiment.
It would appear that Orgill was a long serving soldier, first mention as a Lt in Jan 1930 with regards to an appointment at The Royal Military College. By 1936 he was a captain and by May 1945 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, having been a temporary Lt Col since Nov 1940.
Condition is generally very good with some minor moth damage as pictured. These come in the form of one small nip to the front leg crease and a small cluster around the crotch as pictured. One plastic button for the braces is broken.
Despite this the nap of other is good and not faded. The stirrup straps are also in fine fettle, with only some minor cracking as is quite common.
It is not currently known exactly where Orgill served during the war, and worthy of more thorough research.
Size is approximately 33/34 waist and 34.5 leg.
