A good Great War era entrenching tool helve stick, as worn on the hip as part of the 1908 webbing equipment, this is the slimmer type and fits perfectly into an original helve carrier in the GSM collection. This is as opposed to later WW2 period exampes which are wider.
The wood is in good shape with a lovely colour and is free from any serious denting or splitting. This has clearly been used and bears some wear marks as such on the metalwork. There looks to have possibly been a manufacture stamp in the wood, though it now appears unintelligable.
Width of the metal end is just under 11 cm, whilst the wooden shaft is approximately 7.5 cm.
