A United States Marine Corps wool tunic, bearing ink stamps dating it to 1940-1941 manufacture and named to an 'E. F. RHOADS'.
Condition is well used with overall wear to the material and some moth nips to the edge of the sleeve and the corner of one of the lower pockets. There are some white marks to the rear on one arm as pictured. The button holes have frayed slightly. There is some tearing to the sleeve lining, this could be carefully repaired if desired.
The jacket bears the USMC globe and anchor collar badges, along with USMC buttons. Unfortunately one large button is missing. The belt is not present and it would appear that patches have been removed, indicated by some loose red thread to the sleeves.
Approximate sizes are:
Pit to pit: 18.5 inches across
Base of collar to hem: 29.5 inches
Waist laid flat: just over 17.5 inches
Shoulder seam to cuff: 24 inches
Across the shoulders: just over 16.5 inches
A well used example but wartime dated and named, well worthy of further research.
