A relatively scarce Post WW2 RAF War Service Dress New Pattern Blouse with a date stamp for 1948.
This pattern of blouse was only made for a few years. It emerged in 1947 and was replaced shortly after by the much more common New Pattern blouse with a re-modelled collar.
This particular example features black plastic Kings crown RAF buttons to the pockets and epaulettes. There are fade marks where RAF eagle insignia has been removed from the shoulders.
The label is still largely legible, however the date and manufacture name has been obscurred by an inked service number. The lining also features the size number '4', along with the War Department stamp. This is surmounted by the letter 'R' which is the correct letter for the year of issue 1948.
The condition is well used throughout, with an overall wear to the nap of the cloth. There are also some grubby marks as pictured, along with some moth damage.
All in all a well worn example, but a scarce pattern of RAF blouse.
