A beautiful pair of cavalry saddle wallets, of the type used by British and Commonwealth mounted troops, from the Boer War and the First World War.
There are several variations, this type featuring a pair of studs to either side to secure the flaps closed.
They are in fine strong condition, with only surface wear and no damage or heavy scuffs, having kept their shape well. The corners of each flap have lost some stitching but could easily be fixed if required. There are some areas of dry leather that have flaked the surface leather, these are concentrated mainly around the yoke and rear of the flaps.
They have had manufacture stampings to the top yoke, though the circular maker stamp is well worn. The yoke also features unit markings reading 'GYC' and 'COG', the significance of these is not known.
Overall a fine and displayable example of cavalry equipment.
