1952 British Blue Beret Army Catering Corps
1952 dated blue beret made by Jalpotex Ltd, complete with Army Catering Corps bi-metal cap badge.
This is the large-crown type, identical to the wartime style, with two eyelets and leather band. It was introduced from 1950 to form a ubiquitous type of headwear for most units.
War Department acceptance stamps inside, with the size 7 marked in the lining.
The wool itself is in very good condition with a good nap of cloth, there are however two small nips around the cap badge area. This could also be where another, possibly lugged, cap badge has been fitted.
Unfortunately the leather band has begun to crack in places, mainly to the front.
