Unusual example of the belt used by the ''Air Raid Precautions', in conjunction with the gas detector kit.
The belt is identical to the 1908 pattern waist belt in many respects, however there are no attachments to the rear for shoulder straps. Whilst some did have these attachments, this one shows no sign of ever having them fitted.
The belt also features a small rectangle of webbing to one side, often these belts have two and are designed with D rings to attach to the respirator bag. This example could be a later or transitional pattern, but is certainly intended for use with the detector kit.
Strangely, the brass slider is a Great War era economy type. This may have been taken from another belt.
