An above average example of a Civil Defence respirator, as issued to those Civil Defence workers not issued with a General Service box respirator. This example was made by Siebe Gorman and dated December 1939, with an issue date of January 1940.
The rubber is in excellent supple condition, along with the straps which have a good deal of elasticity in them. The filter is free form dents and scratches, having been secured with electrical tape for added security. The facepiece and lenses are well stamped with maker marks and dates, including a white Home Office stamp partially obscured by the tape. The eyepieces are in good clean condition, though the rubber appears to have discolored slightly.
A relatively common but above average civilian respirator.
